Knowledge Element - Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Applied Science (QCF) - delivered over 2 years and requires the candidate to attend Trafford College on a day release basis. The course covers topics such as Chemistry, Physics and Biological Science.Competence Element - Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Polymer/Polymer Composite Operations - delivered over 2 years in the workplace. Entry requirements

3 GCSE's at Grade A* - C including Maths and English and a Science.


The NVQ programme is modular, and consists of core and optional units. All assessments are carried out in the workplace. Assessment of the NVQ is continuous by a variety of methods including observation of practical skills, oral questioning, written statements and projects. The BTEC Diploma in Applied Science is assessed by assignment and course work and comprises of a number of units covering all aspects of applied science.
