Business and Hospitality (Event Management) Level 3 at Warwickshire College Group
If you like the idea of hosting a function or running an event, then this is the course for you. The hospitality industry is a rapidly growing sector and employers are always on
the lookout for young people with the right personality and set of skills.
The programme will focus on the principles of hospitality and events management rather than more traditional hospitality and catering programmes which focus on practical cooking and food preparation skills.
Communication and team working are central to success in the sector, which is why this course develops inter-personal skills, plus planning, research and marketing. Learn how to plan and manage a wide variety of
occasions, from birthday parties to large outdoor concerts!
Develop your knowledge of health and safety, financial records, business marketing and IT required to start your business from home. There’ll be plenty of opportunities to test out your entrepreneurial and organisational skills, including planning and running your own events.
This two year programme is a practical, work-related course where the assessment is based on investigating real life businesses. You will have to research different companies using a variety of methods, such as the Internet, or conducting interviews with business owners.
In the first year you will study a range of units which include:
- Exploring Business
- Managing an Event

You will have a positive school or college reference with good levels of attendance and punctuality.
You will be taught through a series of workshops, guest speakers and visits. You will work in groups, pairs and independently, contributing to seminars and presentations to demonstrate what you have learnt.
A variety of methods are used to assess your progress including examination, individual and group presentations, case studies, assignments, projects, work based assignments, developing learning resources, and display work. You will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade for each module according to how well you cover the learning outcomes specified.
The course aims to equip you with skills to succeed in employment or to progress to a degree level course either at Warwickshire College or other university to study a Business related qualification.
