Public Services BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Warwickshire College Group
The aim of this programme is to provide students with an introduction to the Public Services. Through studying the different career options and how to progress within the Public Services, students will develop a range of valuable skills such as leadership, planning, initiative and teamwork. On successful completion of this qualification, students are able to progress to Level 2 study.
For the BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Public Services students must achieve 37 credits.
Students will study the following units:
Public Service Careers
Improving Health and Fitness for Entry into the Uniformed Public Service
Personal Skills for the Public Services
Managing your Health at Work
Practical Teamwork in the Public Service
Map Reading Using Ordnance Survey Maps
Public Service Incidents
Public Services: Assisting the Public
Planning and Participating in an Event
Introduction to Expedition Skills
Developing Personal Skills for Leadership
You will need to have 3 GCSEs at Grade 2, two of which must be in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent) and to show a commitment to sport, fitness or outdoor education. Applicants without the entry requirements for this course are advised to apply for individual advice, guidance and initial assessment.
A good school/college report containing evidence of attendance, good behaviour and attainment will also be asked for.
Written assignments, presentations both poster and oral, synoptic end unit assessments are all assessment techniques used on this programme.
Students who complete the course with an overall Merit grade have the opportunity to progress to the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services. This is subject to our Internal Progression Policy, which involves an interview and looking closely at attendance, attitude and attainment during your previous study.
