Entry requirements

This course is concerned with 'behind the scenes' in theatre, rather than performing.
At Weatherhead, we offer the following units, which must be studied.
Unit D15 - Crewing For Stage performance
Unit D12 - Design For Performance
Unit D20 - Makeup for Stage Performers
(optional) Unit A2 - The Performing Arts Business


Assessment is through practical and written assignments - there is no written examination.
As this is a vocational course, work-related opportunities include school productions, concerts, talent shows and dance shows.
Students must be prepared to take part in these events, some of which take place at lunchtimes and others, after school

Future opportunities

This is an exciting course for students who have a genuine interest in the technical side of theatre. It is very practical, so you need to be creative, imaginative and also have a common-sense approach to problem solving.

Further information

This course is worth 2 A* - C grades at GCSE, taught in the time given for a single GCSE - students are expected to work extremely hard in order to be successful.
All assignments must be passed in order to achieve a grade C - If assignments are missed, the student will be given a FAIL grade, overall.
