AS/A2 Level Geography at Burton and South Derbyshire College
Both the AS and A2 courses offer a balance between Human and Physical Geography. The links between the natural environment and human activity is an important aspect of the course. Some local fieldwork will be undertaken along with a residential course after the AS examination. AS topics include;- Rivers, Hydrology and Flood Management, Coastal Environments, Population Change, Energy, Health. A2 topics include; - Weather and Climate, Tectonic Hazards, World Cities and Globalisation.
5 GCSEs at grade C or above, two of which must be English Language and either Art & Design or Design & Technology, or an equivalent qualification such as a Level 2 Diploma in Design. A portfolio of work is desirable
A Level Geography students from Burton College have gone on to study Degrees in; Geography, Urban and Rural Planning, Conservation, Tourism and Oceanography. Future employment possibilities are varied both in the Public and Private Sectors.
