Chemistry GCSE at Walsall College
GCSE Chemistry provides the basis for studying A-level Chemistry or a general background for those wanting to specialise in one or more separate sciences. It is a modern course that will stimulate students' interest in how science works.
The course is split into units, which cover topics such as:
- Controlling the rates of chemical reactions
- Making polymers and ethanol from oil
- How rocks provide building materials
- Humans and the effect we have on the environment
Students are required to hold Literacy Level 1. Candidates will also undertake a subject specific assessment.
3 examinations (May, June), long answer questions and a practical assessment (January).
Firm foundation for progression to AS and A level Chemistry.
