A Level Art and Design at Wootton Upper School and Arts College

Course description

For the first year you will follow a broad course giving you the chance to develop skills, experiment with media and master different techniques within the areas of drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed-media applications. You will also be introduced to the works of artists and designers in support of your own work. In Year 13 you will work to your own personal theme, in a range of media or choose to specialise.

Entry requirements

This course builds on the skills, knowledge and understanding acquired by candidates that studied Art at GCSE. You need to have a B grade in GCSE Art and a C grade in English Language to start the course.

Future opportunities

As it plays an important part in today’s world, training in Art & Design can open up a diverse range of career opportunities. Equally, the skills central to learning in Art & Design, eg creativity, self-expression, visual literacy, critical awareness, presentation, etc, are transferable across all subject areas and to employment.
