NVQ Business & Administration (Levels 1, 2, 3) at Appleby Heritage Centre

Course description

This course is available at levels 1-3 and is aimed at anybody who is considering working in a business/office environment.It is a vocational qualification and as with any vocational qualification the emphasis is placed on what you can do.An essential part of this course involves weekly external work experience in a suitably approved organisation.

 

 

 

 

 

Course content

Students complete a variety of units from a list of units such as:

  • Managing own performance
  • Working in a business environment
  • Producing documents
  • Using office equipment
  • Spreadsheet and or database
  • Presentation software
  • Store and retrieve information
  • Handle mail
  • Use telephone systems
  • Organise events
  • Research information
  • Organising travel
  • Support meetings
  • Provide reception services
  • Word processing soft ware

 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, however due to limited places and a heavy commitment in staff hours, places are allocated on recommendation from form tutors, with emphasis being placed on organisational skills, reliability, timekeeping and attendance .

Assessment

Each unit is assessed separately so that unit certificates can be awarded where necassary. There are NO formal examinations. Candidates complete units by gathering together a portfolio of relevant evidence.

Future opportunities

 

This course can lead to employment in many administrative positions in almost any kind of industry. At Level 3 this qualification attracts UCAS points.
