Further Mathematics A Level at Strode's College

Course description

This course is for you if you found GCSE Maths really easy, love algebra and can’t wait to have at least half of your timetable devoted to learning new and exciting maths topics! Further Maths is essential if you wish to study for a degree in maths or sciences at the Russell group of leading universities. Be prepared for a real challenge, but also to have fun and meet like-minded academic students.


Course content

This is an ideal course to experience some advanced topics that provide the foundation of the mathematical science studied at university and see how the subject develops beyond GCSE.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway, including at least 5 A* - B GCSE grades. Including an A in GCSE Maths.


Six one and a half hour exams in the summer of the first year, and a further six exams in the summer of the second year.

Talks from leading mathematicians and scientists, participation in UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and the British Maths Olympiad

Future opportunities

Many students secure places at leading universities to study Maths, Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science and Accountancy degrees, as well as many other academically challenging courses.
