Psychology AS/A2 at St John Bosco Arts College

Course description

Psychology is the science of behaviour, in this subject you will investigate what we do and why, what motivates us to think, behave, learn, love and hate.

AS and A2 touch upon a number of different areas and issues within Psychology.

There are four units, each with three topics in:

Unit 1 – Memory, attachments and research methods

Unit 2 – Obedience and conformity, abnormality and stress

Unit3 – Relationships, biological rhythms and sleep and aggression

Unit 4 – Schizophrenia, addictions and research methods.

Entry requirements

Grade B in GCSE English

Assessment

Psychology consists of four exams over two years. All exams are equally weighed, with each exam contributing 25% to the final A2 grade.

AS exams (units one and two) consist of short answer questions

A2 exams (units three and four) consist of short answer questions and essays
