IT Multimedia Design Level 2 Extended Certificate at Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College

Course description

This Level 2 IT Multimedia Design qualification is for you if you wish to develop your skills in cutting edge digital work.

On the course, you will be introduced to a wide range of creative activities including software-based multimedia design.

You will work using state of the art industry standard software during your course.

What is the course structure? The course is made up of individual units with focus on multiple aspects of multimedia design. The mandatory units will enable you to study particular IT areas in depth, and specialist units will be aimed at delivering course specific knowledge and skills, allowing you to build up a portfolio of work to be assessed internally by your lecturers. Elements of your portfolio will also be assessed by OCR moderators.

Your Study Programme will include the main course, a weekly tutorial, work experience placement, employability skills development and English and Maths.

Minimum age requirement: 16

What subjects will I study? Units will include: 1 Communicating in the IT industry (M) 2 Working in the IT industry (M) 11 Multimedia design 16 Project planning using IT

Entry requirements

4 GCSE A*- D grade (including Maths and English) or equivalent prior qualifications.


Student assessment is based on course work, both practical and written (marked by your college teachers and verified by OCR).

Future opportunities

What job could I get afterwards? Progression on to Level-3 Diploma. The course will open up a wide range of creative career opportunities including digital design careers and/or working in the IT/Media industry. However, most students continue onto Level 3 extended diploma courses.

Further information

You will learn in dedicated computer labs equipped with industry standard software packages. The course is usually timetabled over 4 days per week.
