Music A Level at London Academy

Course description

The units covered in the course are:

  • Unit 1 - Influences on Music 
  • Unit 2 - Composing 
  • Unit 3 - Performing 

Music A-levels are held in high regard and will support your application into any university. It also offers many transferable skills; it demonstrates that you can make progress independently and performances are evidence of your confidence in front of an audience. Taking part in performances also looks great on your UCAS application. As part of Unit 3 you will have the opportunity to perform at concerts and Open Mic events.

Entry requirements

You need a GCSE Music grade B or above or a successful audition and theory test to join the AS Music course. It is very academic and you will need to be a confident reader of notation and a competent performer by the time you sit the exams in June. To gain maximum marks for the Performance unit you need to be performing at or equivalent to Grade 5 or above.
