Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bolton College
Our Apprenticeship programmes will give you vital hands-on experience, learning from real life situations, with the guidance of industry professionals. You’ll gain the skills and confidence needed to excel in your chosen career.
This Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship will teach you how to prepare surfaces, match colours, apply coatings and wallpaper and work with a variety of materials like gloss and Artex.
You will be taught by industry-experienced tutors in workshops that reflect the workplace.
The course is a great way to build on your skills and gain a recognised qualification whilst also earning a salary.
- Hanging Wall Coverings to Complex Surfaces in the Workplace
- Preparing Surfaces for Protection and Decoration
- Applying Coatings by Brush or Roller
- Applying Wall Coverings to Ceilings and Walls
To complete an Apprenticeship you will need an employer who is willing to support you throughout your training. If you have not found one, we can help you with your search.
We’d like to see a proven track record of very good attendance at work/school, along with a good reference from school/a previous employer. We also ask that you have a satisfactory level of English and maths.
You’ll be assessed throughout your learning programme by a mixture of formal tests, workplace observations, portfolio building and self-assessment.
On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, you could progress onto full-time employment, professional job-specific qualifications, Higher Apprenticeships or a degree programme.
Following further study you could work as:
- A Painter and Decorator, earning between £15,000 and £30,000 a year, depending on experience.
- A French Polisher, earning between £13,000 and £30,000 a year.
- A Handyperson, earning between £13,000 and £23,000 a year.
The College will support you throughout your time here. In College, you will receive personal support from your tutor; out of College, you will have your own personal Work Based Tutor, who will visit you in the workplace.
