Photography BTEC Level 3 National Certificate at Strode's College

Course description

This course provides you with the practical skills to become a competent and confident photographic artist. You will develop skills in a range of photographic techniques while learning about the history of photography and the work of other photographic artists. As you progress, you develop your skills and knowledge in both practical and contextual elements of photography.

Course content

This is an ideal course to build and develop your practical photographic skills in a wide range of skills including studio, documentary, darkroom, digital and image manipulation.


Entry requirements

General entry requirements for level 3 Pathway, including a C in Maths or English GCSE. Plus a grade C in Art and Design GCSE or Merit in Level 2 Art and Design BTEC or equivalent or a portfolio of work. Students will need to buy workbooks and other photographic materials.


Four units of which three are mandatory and 2 are externally assessed.

College Art and Design Exhibition and visit Art Exhibitions.

Future opportunities

This course helps students prepare a portfolio for an interview for work in the Creative Industries, or for entry on to Art College Foundation, BA or Higher BTEC courses in Art and Design.
