Level 3 Diploma in Fashion & Clothing at Shrewsbury College

Course description

Students will learn about the fashion industry and also develop their practical skills in fashion design and drawing, pattern cutting, textiles, garment construction and accessories covering a range of units. Both years of the course will be involved in producing garments for the Annual Art School Fashion Show. Students will also receive grounding in traditional art & design methods and the history of art. Life drawing is also studied to support fashion illustration. The course involves visits to relevant exhibitions & galleries including the Clothes Show. Drawing is intrinsic to the design process as is an openness to explore other art disciplines when researching.

Entry requirements

You need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, which should include English and an Art, Graphics, Textiles or IT related subject.

Financial information

Students will be expected to pay for the materials used to develop their fashion ideas and a detailed list will be provided. A contribution towards educational visits may also be requested.
