BTEC Level 3 90 Credit Diploma (Information Technology) at Develop

Course description

The course is ideal for those who are looking for training in up-to-date games skills such as programming, games design, graphics and animation and want to study selected areas for today's IT industry. It is also good preparation for a degree or Foundation Degree course, and is equally suitable for those who wish to progress to a career in many areas of the Creative IT industry.

Course content


To gain a Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in IT you will need to complete 90 credits across various units. You will study the following subjects

  • Communication & Employability skills for IT
  • Computer systems
  • Software Design and Development
  • Digital Graphics
  • Developing Computer Games 
  • Computer Animation
  • 2D Animation Production
  • Computer Game Platforms and Technologies
  • Multimedia Design

You may have an option to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma if you wish to continue your studies into Year 2.

Entry requirements

You should have 5 GCSE's at Grades A-C, including English and Maths preferably at Grade A or B. Students with C Grades only in English and Maths will be given conditional acceptance onto the course dependant on a successful interview and skills test.


Each unit will be assessed against grading criteria set by the awarding body. A variety of assessment methods are available such as performance observation, written work, case studies, and projects. There will also be some external assessment marked by the awarding body.

Financial information

If you are 16-18, there are no fees to pay. If you are 19 or over, a course fee will be applied.
