Engineering Apprenticeship Level 2 at Stratford-upon-Avon College

Course description

Our Level 2 Apprenticeship in Engineering is aimed at learners new to the sector or has a limited knowledge and skill set, and wishes to develop their career within the Engineering and Manufacturing industry. Our Apprenticeship in this subject covers a wide range of subjects, such as electrical and electronic engineering, fabrication and welding engineering, maintenance engineering and mechanical engineering.

This course will equip all learners with the knowledge, experience and skills required to be involved in a range of engineering processes. Our apprenticeship will cover knowledge and methods used in today‚Äôs economy such as engineering techniques and principles,  engineering environmental awareness, computer aided design, health and safety practices, fitting and assembly techniques.

Course content

This Apprenticeship Framework consists of the following components:

NVQ Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Technology
Technical Certificate Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
*Functional Skills Level 2 in Mathematics, Level 2 in English and Level 2 in ICT
Other Certificate in Employment, Rights and Responsibilities

*To help us ensure that all students reach their full potential and are equipped to develop their skills further within the industry, all learners who have not already achieved a Level 2 in English and Mathematics will have extra tuition to help them achieve a Level 2 in these subjects. Functional Skills are only applicable to learners who have not already achieved GCSE grade A-E in English, Maths and ICT (or equivalent)

Entry requirements

  • It is advised that candidates should have already achieved no less than a GCSE Grade E in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).

Assessment

To achieve the NVQ element of this course, you will be required to complete a series of units which are then assessed in conjunction with observations in the workplace, to ensure you are able to demonstrate practical skills and knowledge.  We also offer learners the opportunity to, once a week, participate in a skills class where you can extend your learning of knowledge and skills.

To achieve the Technical Certificate and Functional Skill components, you will be required to undergo a series of formal tests. All knowledge to achieve these components will be gained alongside the NVQ. Testing will commence at College and you may be required to attend Functional Skill session at College.
