Sales & Marketing Apprenticeship Advanced at East Berkshire College
All Apprenticeships consist of a Framework of different elements. They must include qualifications that, when achieved, prove the Apprentice's competence in carrying out work of the Level and type identified in the Framework. Also included must be qualifications which demonstrate the technical knowledge of the job and industry, plus more wide ranging general skills required to operate successfully in the trade; these will include Maths, English and, if appropriate, ICT and Employer Rights and Responsibilities.
The different elements can be combined in one qualification, or be covered in separate qualifications, but all elements must be achieved to obtain a full Apprentice Certificate.
Apprenticeships are work-based learning qualifications. Apprenticeships include a combination of the following elements:
- A work-based 'competency' qualification such as an NVQ
- A technical qualification relevant to the specific Apprenticeship
- Functional Skills qualifications in Maths, English and ICT or equivalent as appropriate
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
- Employee Rights and Responsibilities
- On-the-job and off-the-job training
The competency qualification in this Apprenticeship is the Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Sales
NVQ Mandatory Units:
Negotiating, Handling Objections and closing Sales
- Complying with Legal, Regulatory and Ethical Requirements in a Sales or Marketing Role
In addition to the NVQ mandatory units, further units will be selected to meet the needs of the employer and learner. The mandatory and optional units are credit based and will make up the full competency qualification
earner: Different Apprenticeships have different entry requirements. The general requirements are that:
- You must be living in England and not taking part in full-time education
- You must be aged 16 or over
- If you took your GCSEs more than five years ago, or you do not have the correct GCSE grades in Maths and English you will need to take a literacy and numeracy test
These qualifications are designed for people who work in a sales environment, either in sales roles or performing sales functions, and who have direct contact with customers. The qualifications cover a range of functions including developing a sales strategy, managing sales territories and teams, face-to-face and telephone selling.
Learners will be assessed within the college as well in the workplace to ensure all the competencies are met. Regular review meetings will take place with the learner, assessor and employer to support the achievement of the qualification.
Apprenticeships, with support and opportunities in the workplace, can progress onto a range of other Professional Qualifications For example, you may decide to pursue a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Customer Service, Level 4 NVQ Certificate and Diploma in Business and Administration, Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management or a Level 5 HND Diploma in Business.
Progression from the Sales apprenticeship could include employment opportunities within a current job role/alternative job role including: Business development officer/executive, Customer sales adviser, Customer service adviser/team leader, Junior sales executive/manager, Customer relationship manager, Membership sales adviser/consultant, Telesales executive/professional, Sales team leader, Key account manager.
