Drama and Theatre Studies A Level at South Hunsley School and Sixth Form College

Course description

You will need to be able to research, revise and express your ideas in exam conditions and be dedicated to independent reading and learning outside of lessons. You will need to be flexible in your approach to the course, and committed to meeting rehearsal schedules

Course content


You will explore one key text and one theatre practitioner and use these as a basis for your own devised performance. This will be performed in front of an invited live audience.

Text in Performance

Prepare a performance of a monologue/duologue and-and a performance of a key extract from two contrasting plays. This is performed in front of a live audience. Alternatively, you can be assessed on your design skills.

Theatre Makers in Practice

Includes a review of a live piece of theatre and studies in detail two performance texts and contrasting practitioners, focusing on how to reimagine texts for contemporary audiences. 


You will learn about how to create dramatic performances and will also become immersed in the rich and colourful history that surrounds dramatic performance in all countries, cultures and ages. You will need to have the confidence to perform in front of an audience and have self-management skills to meet deadlines.
