Maths A Level at Calderstones School

Course description

A-Level Maths consists of 3 papers and they are completed at the end of Y13. Paper 1 Pure Mathematics 1, Paper 2 Pure Mathematics 2 and Paper 3 Statistics and Mechanics. For the most able students, Further Maths is also offered. This is taught outside of the normal timetable by department staff in conjunction with the Further Maths Centre at Liverpool University.

Future opportunities

A-Level Mathematics students and graduates are in high demand by employers and maths is the essential transferable component across all science, engineering, technology and maths subjects. Other than a degree in Maths, A level leads to degrees and careers in Statistics, Finance and Banking, Natural and Life Sciences, Art & Design, Business & Research, Engineering, Actuarial and Insurance, ICT/Computing, Medicine & Health and Education.
