English Literature A-Level at Freman College

Course description

Do you want to embark on a fascinating journey into fiction, and gain an A-level in a facilitating subject? Do you love to read and discuss novels, short stories, plays and poetry, or enjoy stories in any form?

Over the two year course, you will study a variety of texts and genres, including works by writers such as Jez Butterworth, Angela Carter, Christina Rossetti, Shakespeare and Bram Stoker. English Literature is not only textual analysis and essay writing, it concerns psychology, culture, history, sociology and philosophy - and these are just some of the aspects of human experiences, concepts and endeavours it encompasses.

Entry requirements

Grade B or above in either English Language or, preferably, English Literature.

Assessment

Assessment is by two terminal exams each worth 40% and a coursework task which is worth 20%.
