Sport and Active Leisure Level 1 Diploma at Aylesbury College

Course description

This programme is a practical-based course giving an insight into the sports industry. Level 1 is suitable for those who are new to sport and recreation and who wish to achieve a diploma that reflects their competence in introductory functions and responsibilities in the industry.

Course content

You will learn the basics of the industry and undertake a series of both active and theoretical sessions to develop your knowledge.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs, able to demonstrate an interest in sport, Entry Level 3 qualification.


You will plan a programme of development with your assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove you are knowledgeable and competent in your work.

Financial information

You will be required to purchase the following: uniform and text books - approximately £200. During the course there will be the opportunity to attend events - approximate cost of £100.

Future opportunities

The direct progression from this programme would be NVQ Diploma Level 2 in Instructing Exercise and Fitness.
