Electrical Apprenticeship Level 3 at Isle of Wight College

Course description

This course is for anyone seeking employment in the field of Electrical Installation. The course includes both theory and practical skills which are put into practice in the workplace. The Advanced Apprenticeship requires academic work to be completed alongside practical assessments. The Advanced Apprenticeship is usually undertaken by learners who have had some industry experience or who have previously completed a Level 2 qualification.

Course content

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Electrical Installation will give you the skills and knowledge that you will need to build a career within the Electrical Industry. The assessment framework is build around the Industrial and Commercial sector of Electrical.

The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework includes the following:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy and IT
  • ERR (Employment Rights and Responsibilities)
  • PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills)
  • AM2 Examination

Entry requirements

C and above in GCSE Maths, English and Science or ability to gain Level 2 Functional Skills.


You will attend The Isle of Wight College on a day release one day per week for the underpinning knowledge and some practical input. You will also be assessed and reviewed on a regular basis in the workplace by a member of our team.

Future opportunities

Once you complete this qualification you may be able to progress into full time employment.

Many employers will tend to keep their Apprentices on after they complete their Apprenticeship but permanent employment is not guaranteed after learners complete their apprenticeship.
