Caring for Children - Level 1 Award/ Certificate at Burton and South Derbyshire College
This is a Level 1 course that forms part of a natural progression route into the vocational sector of Health, Social Care and Early Years. The programme offers a broad introduction and helps to develop the basic skills associated with working in this sector. There will be an opportunity for learners to explore work in Early Years via work placement.
• Interview on application and some areas may require a minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade G or better; or • Pass at BTEC Entry or Certificate or equivalent.All Early Years and Care students will need to apply for an enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Check prior to enrolment.
Successful learners may progress onto a Level 2 programme of study or obtain employment in the Care Sector.This short course offers a specialist qualification for entering employment in childcare or for progressing onto further education such as BTEC Higher Nationals in Children's Care, Learning and Development or related degree programmes. You could also go on to study a relevant NVQ vocational qualification such as Playwork, which could be work-based. With further training, you could go into a job related to children's care such as a Nursery Nurse, Teacher or Care Worker. The course provides a work related programme of study so you could go straight into a job as it helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers are looking for.
