Mathematics AS/A Level at Bury College

Course description

The course covers the two main areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics; all content is compulsory, there are no-longer optional units in A Level Mathematics. The pure mathematics content includes the study of coordinate geometry, algebra and functions, trigonometry, calculus and vectors.The applied mathematics part of the course includes statistics and mechanics. The statistics includes sampling, data representation and analysis and probability functions and the Mechanics covers forces, dynamics and kinematics.As part of the A Level Maths course, you will also develop your IT skills on a range of packages including Excel and Autograph. Classes in IT suites will include hands-on work to investigate and analyse a large set of data.

Entry requirements

The minimum entry requirements for access to an A Level Study Programme will be two subjects at grade B (or grade 5) including GCSE English and four subjects at grade C (or grade 4) and GCSE maths grade A*-B (9-6).
