Textiles and Fashion AS A Level at Saint Mary's College, Blackburn

Course description

Textiles and Fashion attracts students who are inventive, artistic and have a passion and interest for trends. This is a course which explores a wide variety of textile techniques, fabric manipulation, sewing by hand and on machines, different methods of fabric decoration including embroidery, printmaking and fabric construction. Students are encouraged to experiment with the different techniques to produce highly creative outcomes including clothing and quirky accessories made with a variety of materials. If you have creativity and flair for textiles and fashion, are enthusiastic, self motivated to achieve the full potential in an idea, then this is the course for you!

Entry requirements

English Language grade C and Art grade C if taken. In addition any student wishing to take two art subjects will be required to have obtained a grade B in GCSE Art. A student without Art GCSE will be considered for entry on the course, supported by a suitable portfolio of work.
