Sport and Exercise Science Level 3 BTEC 90 Credit Diploma at Mid Cheshire College

Course description

This course is theory based with practical elements in a variety of units. All students will study the following areas: • Anatomy for sport and exercise • Sports Nutrition • Practical Team Sports • Sport & Exercise Psychology • Sport & Exercise Physiology • Research Methods for sport & exercise • Exercise, Health & Lifestyle • Fitness Testing • Training & Programming.

Course content

This course includes a Study Programme to provide learners with a coherent and enriching curriculum which will provide them with the academic, social and employability skills to progress to further or higher education or employment. The content of the study programme is designed to broaden the learner experience beyond the main qualification of study. The key theme of Study Programmes at Level 3 will be the development of personal, social and enterprise skills to enable progression to higher levels of study or employment. As well as your core qualification you will study GCSE or Functional Skills in English or Maths plus English and Maths development as part of the core qualification. Learners will also undertake personal progress planning and pastoral education. Plus additional personal development activities which will include work experience and projects.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade A* - C or equivalent, Grade C in GCSE English to be included in the 4 or an additional years study at Level 2 will be required


Continuous assessment through projects, assignments, presentations & observations. The final assessment is based on a portfolio which you will produce over the year.

Future opportunities

You will be able to progress onto the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Sciences for a further year.
