OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in IT at The Robert Napier School
OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma is designed to give you a work-focused alternative to A Levels.
It has been designed to give you opportunities to demonstrate and develop the practical application of knowledge and understanding in the areas of work that appeal to you. This will enable you to develop your research skills as you work, both independently and with peers to progress through your qualifications.
The assessment for the qualifications is task-based, so you will not need to take exams to achieve the qualification.
Learners will take six units, made up of two core and four optional units and this will enable them to start to focus on the skills and knowledge needed for study or work in specific areas of the IT sector. The core units are Communication and Employability Skills for IT, and Information Systems.
Preferred but not essential C grade in GCSE ICT
The units are all coursework based and are assessed by a visiting moderator. Student performance at unit level is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. These grades are aggregated to provide an overall grade for the qualification. Qualifications above Pass grade are graded Merit, Distinction and Distinction*
The OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in qualifies for UCAS points. Successful completion will allow you to move on to study for a degree or BTEC Higher National Diploma in related subjects such as ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Multimedia, Software Engineering, Computer Networking, e-Business and Information Management. You could also go on to work-based training such as IT User/Practitioner NVQs or vendor-specific qualifications.
