Performing Arts - Level 3 BTEC Diploma at Yorkshire Coast College

Course description

The Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts will develop your skills in all aspect of the Performing Arts, including acting, singing and dancing.

The course also allows for you to choose a main discipline, which will form the basis of your course structure, these are Acting or Musical Theatre pathways. During the course you will work on a number of existing texts as well as creating your own devised pieces and learn either movement skills or dance techniques, depending on whether you choose Acting or Musical Theatre as your main discipline. All learners will develop their skills singing both solo and as a group.

This course is also a great progression route for anyone who has successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts

Successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts

Future opportunities

After successfully completing the Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts you will have the skills and confidence to enter the world of work. Alternatively, you could go to University and study for an undergraduate degree or even stay on with Yorkshire Coast College and train for a HNC or HND in Performing Arts.

We've seen some learners go on to set up their own touring theatre and dance companies, so not only do they get to travel all over the country, but they have full-time careers doing something they love, that makes us incredibly proud. Other success stories have seen our learners go on to have careers in the West End performing in hit musicals like Mamma Mia and Cats.

The local average wage on entry to a career in the Performing Arts – depending on qualification - is £13,000.

      Refectory and Square Cat Café

      Our refectory at Lady Edith's Drive is the perfect place to relax and unwind, whether you want a quick snack, a healthy lunch or just to catch up with friends. Breakfast is served every weekday from 8.30am until 11am, after this a huge choice foods are available including a range of premium sandwiches, pizzas, salads, paninis, and jacket potatoes. Our two campuses each have their own refectories. 

      The Square Cat Café at Westwood is a great place to catch-up with friends. We offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. From time-to-time you might even catch a live performance from performing arts students.

      Our Learner Engagement Team also provide other activities across both sites throughout the year.

      Common Room

      The learner common room on Lady Edith's Campus is located on the ground floor and near the LRC. Here you can relax with your friends and play a game or pool and our Learner Engagement team are always on hand to help you or provide information on a range of activities they are organising. 

      Learning Resource Centre

      We have two interactive Learning Resource Centres across Yorkshire Coast College providing lending, reference and information services and offering you the chance to utilise the latest technologies and study aids. Our Learning Centres are also linked to the British Library, meaning no matter what you need, you will always have access to it. 

      ICT, Moodle & Wifi

      Yorkshire Coast College has a great range of academic facilities for both students and staff. Feel free to check books out from our libraries and use our professional printing services amongst our many other facilities at Yorkshire Coast College.

      Printing Services

      Our Repro facility offers both students and the general public, first class business stationery, educational printing as well as a host of photographic and print finishing services, including both black and white and full colour prints.
