R E - Full Course at Wrenn Academy

Course content

Warning : we have ways of making you think! Religious Studies deals with people’s ideas and beliefs – about what is right and wrong, life, the universe and everything! In our rapidly changing world, two skills continue to be essential for successful, intelligent people. 1. The ability to understand other people; and 2. The ability to think for yourself. This full course in Religious Education complements your other studies, by encouraging you to think carefully about some important questions of life and belief. What are your views on the existence of God, the Bible, Miracles, marriage, divorce and Sex? Or about Human Right and racism? What do you think about War and Peace, Crime and Punishment? You will be able to widen your thinking by looking at the views of others and to strengthen the independence of your thinking by considering the issues carefully for yourself. You will gain a better understanding of your own community and develop further a sense of tolerance and acceptance. In this option you will study a world religion in detail and develop critical thinking skills through opportunities for you to examine controversial issues, make up your own mind and express your own views. You will enjoy Religious Studies if you have an interest in real life problems. Your personal beliefs are not tested at all. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to consider new ideas in mature, intelligent ways.
