Product Design (Resistant Materials or Graphic AS and A Level at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form

Course description

Product Design offers opportunities to consider the impact of design and technological activities in everyday life.  Students will consider the life cycle of a product, from its initial conception, to manufacture and marketing to its impact on society.

Product Design will also provide candidates with the opportunity to solve practical problems in applied contexts.  The courses will assist students in developing into creative, flexible learners who are able to develop and organize ideas to solve problems.

This creativity is at the heart of the subject, and students will need to make effective use of new and existing knowledge when justifying their design decisions. Students are encouraged to adopt a broad view of the process of design and manufacture, take responsibility for their own actions and decisions, devise plans and procedures.
