Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at UTC@harbourside

Course description

An EPQ will allow you to develop skills and knowledge in an area of study that you really love, whether it’s engineering, science, geography, computing, languages, sport or art-based. An EPQ is valuable proof of independent learning and is worth 70 UCAS points, with many top universities offering lower entry requirements or financial incentives to students taking one.

The benefits of studying for an EPQ include:

  • Enhancing your UCAS application and potentially helping you meet the conditions of a university place offer, as it’s worth extra points

  • The opportunity to produce a piece of work that’s truly individual and says something about you as a person, whether it’s a written research report, event or creative artefact (like a computer game or artwork)

  • Demonstrating to universities that you’re enthusiastic about the subject you’re applying to study

  • Producing a portfolio which you can be proud of and can help you start to think about your future.
