BTEC National in Dance at HCT's Education Academy
The BTEC National in Dance is a specialist work related course developed to cover the core elements of dance performance.
Alongside the academic aspect of the course, you will also train with industry specialists and compete within the national and international All Star Cheer federation. You will also have the opportunity to represent the official Huddersfield Giants Pro Squad and work towards coaching credentials.
The course in made up of a variety of different areas including:
- Choreographing Dance
- Circus Acrobatics
- Urban Dance
- The Healthy Performer
- Performing to an Audience and Circus
This course particularly suits those wanting to enter employment within the dance and cheer sector as coaches, instructors and leaders and for those wishing to progress to higher education to study a dance related degree.
4 GCSE's at grade C or above, to include English Language and Mathematics.
All units are assessed through assignments which are submitted; these include written reports, posters, practical dance, demonstrations, group tasks, interviews, practical coaching, presentations, work experience, projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments.
The BTEC qualifications in Dance have been developed to meet employment opportunities in the performance and dance sector and to give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in this sector or to progress to higher education.
In particular the course prepares students for employment or further education in dance coaching, physical education, performance, and instructing.
