BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Public Services (Double) at Sir John Hunt Community Sports College

Course description

This course will be of particular interest to those wishing to enter the following professions – Police Service, fire Service,
Ambulance Service, Armed Forces, Prison Service, Customs and Excise and other community/emergency service related
organizations. The course will run over two years and comprises further units to those already studied in the Subsidiary
Diploma. These elements will include topics that cover the areas below:
 Conflict and Terrorism
 Discipline in the Public Services
 Major incident support
 Crime and its effects on society
 Navigation and expedition skills
 Uniformed public services fitness.
The course will also consist of trips and at least one overnight camp to include activities of varying nature, these trips do
occur at various times and days and can include some weekends throughout the course. The public services will run
presentations and day sessions both in school and at other destinations.
