Information Technology (BTEC Extended Certificate Single Award) at Roundhay School All through education from 4 to 18
The qualifications aim to develop your students’ knowledge, understanding and skills of the principles of IT and Global Information Systems. Your students will gain an insight into the IT sector as they investigate the pace of technological change, IT infrastructure, and the flow of information on a global scale, and the importance of legal and security considerations. A total of five units over the two years will be studied for the Introductory Diploma (1 A Level Equivalent) or eleven units for the Diploma (2 A Level Equivalent).

General entry requirement:
Students should achieve GCSE grade 5 in English Language and Mathematics plus 3 further GCSE grades 9-4 (or grade C in non-reformed qualifications) AND meet the individual subject specific requirements.
Units 1,2 and 3 are written exams, all other units are internally assessed via coursework assignments
Subsidiary Diploma – 6 Units
Diploma – 12 Units
These qualifications have a direct link to University courses and Apprenticeships, widely available both locally and nationally.
