Business with Career Ready BTEC Level 3 90 Credit/Extended Diploma in at Bromley College of Further & Higher Education

Course description

Students on our redeveloped Business with Career Ready course follow a structured one/two year course. The course which includes up to a year mentoring, a minimum 4 week internship, motivational Masterclasses and fantastic workshops, visits and seminars, alongside their BTEC Business Curriculum.

To be successful in business, it is important to have excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate with a range of people, have a commitment to develop your own personal qualities, be enthusiastic, energetic and have a keen interest in developing skills and techniques.

This course is designed to give young people the work experience and skills they need to be able to perform more effectively in the wider world.

Please note that there is a compulsory business dress code for this course.

Course content

You will study units that will develop your business and enterprise skills including:

  • Unit 1 The Business Environment & Unit 2 Business Resources
  • Unit 3 Introduction to Marketing & Unit 4 Business Communication
  • Unit 5 Business Accounting & Unit 1a Financial Services for Individuals
  • Unit 10 Market Research in Business & Unit 16 Human Resource Management in Business &
  • Unit 39 International Business

You will also undertake a minimum 4 week internship, which takes place in the summer between the first and second years of the course.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE: At least 5, graded A*-C including English and Maths
  • Compulsory attendance at all Events and Classes, this includes Course Experience and Selection Event, where you will undertake an interview.


Assessment is continuous throughout the two years and will entail a number of assignments both written and practical.

Students are required to complete a portfolio containing evidence of assignments, practical performance, presentations, group exercises and discussions.

Units will be individually graded as pass, merit or distinction and an overall grade will be awarded on completion of the programme.

Financial information

Students are responsible for ensuring they follow the business dress code.

Business is brought to life through a series of employer-led educational visits that will take place throughout the course.

There are additional trips and visits must be paid for prior to the event. Approximately £100 depending on cost of travel.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course Career Ready students can progress onto higher education or go directly into employment.
