English Language GCSE (Re-sit) at Mayflower High School

Course description

This is a one-year course, which will allow students to build on the skills acquired in Years 10 and 11. During their year, they will improve their controlled assessments and prepare for the final examination, taken in November. If students need further time they will need to sit the two Language papers in the new syallabus.

Course content

Unit 1: Understanding and producing non-fiction texts.

Unit 2: Speaking and Listening.

Unit 3: Understanding spoken and written texts and writing.

a) Understanding written texts (extended reading).

b) Producing creative texts (creative writing). Two tasks based on moving images, a given brief or a stimulus text.

c) Spoken language study.

Entry requirements

Below a C grade in GCSE English Language.
