Aviation Environment Course City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This is a City and Guilds vocational qualification, supported by Swissport at Birmingham Airport. It covers the relevant roles, disciplines and skills to meet the needs of candidates who want to work in a variety of roles in the aviation industry. Successful applicants will be offered the opportunity to attend an interview with Swissport at the end of their course.

Course content

Areas covered on this course include: Health and Safety within Aviation; Aviation Security; Aviation Communications; Airport Check in Services; Aircraft Boarding and Arrival Services; Airport Baggage Processing; Loading/Unloading of Aircraft; Airport Baggage Facilities; Aviation Passengers with Special Requirements; Aircraft Load Instruction Reports; Aircraft Marshalling; Support Flight Operations; Aircraft Dispatch Process; English and Maths Functional Skills or GCSE as appropriate

Entry requirements

Applicants should be committed and enthusiastic, and will be interviewed and assessed for suitability to the course. Applicants should have a minimum of four GCSEs at Grade D or above (or equivalent qualifications/experience). On completion of the course, applicants will attend an interview with Swissport and ideally, should be aged 18 or above and hold a full driving licence due to the unsociable hours worked in this industry.

Assessment

Assessment is via internal coursework and external assessment including controlled examinations/assessment, role plays, presentations and portfolio work

Financial information

Purchase of a uniform is a requirement of the course.

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

Successful candidates can progress onto employment in the Aviation Industry or Level 3 Travel and Tourism course
