Hospitality (Events)- level 3 Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma/Extended Diploma at Buxton & Leek College
This course combines practical training with theory sessions, demonstrations and lectures. It covers subjects such as practical cookery, food and drink service, business skills, event management, team leading, human resource management and customer service.
You'll usually attend college from Monday to Friday, with some weekend and evening events.
This course is an intensive, nationally recognised qualification covering accommodation, reception and basic supervisory skills and food and beverage preparation and service. It's an ideal course to take if you're starting your training in hospitality and want an introduction to the key areas. You'll receive lots of practical training in our on-site restaurant and kitchens. You'll also go to work experience to develop your understanding of what it's like working in this field and have opportunities to enter national competitions, which will help you to build contacts and get yourself noticed by employers.
You'll need 4-5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language and ideally Maths.
Your progress and achievements will be assessed throughout the course using a variety of assignments, projects and tests. You'll have support from a group tutor and other highly experienced professionals.
You could go on to further study in hospitality management or professional culinary arts at the University of Derby, start working in a junior managerial position or enhance your qualifications in areas such as cookery or restaurant service.
