Sports Performance and Coaching or Fitness Services BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Exmouth Community College

Course description

This is a vocational course designed to give learners a basic grounding in understanding and knowledge of the sport and active leisure sector.

The course is designed to develop essential skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes required to achieve your goals, whether gaining employment, securing career progression, or progressing to further qualifications or higher education.

Course content

The course involves completing a variety of units that will include both theory and practical elements. Assessments will happen through a variety of activities; in the workplace, role play, presentations and written assignments, allowing you the flexibility to demonstrate your knowledge in a variety of ways. The new course will include 2 exams during the 2 years which go towards your final grade.

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is the equivalent of 2 A Levels , allowing you to study another subject along side.  We also aim to provide you with the opportunity to complete additional sport related qualifications in order to help you gain employment, such as First Aid, Leadership courses and CYQ Fitness Instructing.

Entry requirements

You need to achieve a 5 grade at GCSE PE and a 4 in Science. You need to have a strong interest in both the theoretical and practical aspects of sport and PE, as well as demonstrating a willingness to work both independently and as part of a group. It is essential to relish new challenges, participate with enthusiasm and have a positive attitude at all times.

This is a very popular course which is often over-subscribed, so the ability to demonstrate the above is crucial if wanting tobe considered for this course.

Future opportunities

Many students go on to Further Education, Higher Education, Apprenticeships or Employment.
