Sport at The Bramcote College

Course description

BTEC Sport offers you the opportunity to study the course as a single option (National Award) which is the equivalent of one A-Level or it can be taken as a double option (National Certificate), the same as 2 A-Levels. The certificate offers a wider variety in the units studied, which can be seen below. What will I study? The course will develop a wide range of skills at Level 3.
You will be expected to work independently and as part of a team developing your personal and interpersonal skills. You will develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of sport, fitness and health, achieved through studying various units. The course comprises of several units which are:
* The body in action
* Health and Safety in sport
* Training in Fitness in sport
* Fitness testing for sport and exercise
* Sports Nutrition
* Psychology for sports performance
* Technical and tactical skill in sport
* The athlete’s lifestyle
These are all core units. Some of these units are studied by students taking both Certificate and Award options, all other units including the units below are studied by students taking the National Certificate, these include:
* Sport and society
* Sports injuries
* Sport and exercise massage
* Rules, regulations and officiating in sport

Entry requirements

5 x A*- C grades at GCSE.
