Sport BTEC Level 2 Diploma at NPL Football Academy (Romulus FC)

Course description

If you are interested in sport, this course provides the knowledge, skills and experience needed to gain an entry level job in the sports and leisure industry or to progress onto another college course.

Course content

The course includes the study of the following areas:
- Anatomy and physiology for sport
- Planning and leading sports activities
- Outdoor adventurous activities
- Leading outdoor adventurous activities
- Development of personal fitness
- Technical skills and tactical awareness for sport

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade C/D or above, plus a positive Record of Achievement/Progress File.


You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including assignments and practical tasks.

Future opportunities

On completion of this course you can progress onto a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport or Public Services. Advice on opportunities for further study will be provided during your course.

The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport can lead to work in a leisure centre or a gym, or in sports coaching. Specialist careers advice will be available from our Advice and Guidance Team throughout your course.

    • Romulus Football Club were formed in 1979 and initially played Sunday league football. After a number of successful years they stepped up to senior football in 1999, entering the Midland Football Combination. In 2003-2004 they won this league and were promoted to the Midland Football Alliance. In 2006-2007 they finished second in the Alliance and were promoted to the Southern League Division One Midlands, the highest level the club has ever reached.
      Several Premier League players, mostly ex-Aston Villa players such as Darius Vassell, Zat Knight and brothers Stefan Moore and Luke Moore, played for Romulus early in their careers.
