Sport BTEC Level 2 at Shipley College

Course description

Develop your knowledge of sport and focus on how to help yourself and others improve as athletes.

Take part in a range of sports including football, cricket, tennis, basketball and volleyball.

Build technical skills and tactical awareness through modules such as practical sport, planning and leading sports activities, organising coaching sessions and tournaments, and the anatomy and physiology of an athlete.

Visit a range of sport organisations including the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and local sports centres.

Entry requirements

  • 2 GCSEs at grade D (3) or above, including English or a Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade D (3) in English.

In addition to these, you will:

  • Tell us more about your keen interest in sport.
  • Have the chance to attend ‘taster’ sessions to find out more about the course.
  • You will have an interview and further assessment to check the course is right for you.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing this course, you can move on to Sport BTEC Level 3 or get a job with organisations such as leisure centres, sports clubs and fitness centres. Some of our students have also successfully progressed on to the uniformed services.
