Tourism and Business Extended Certificate Level 2 at West Lancashire College

Course description

This Level 2 course has been designed to provide you with a specialist work-related qualification in a range of sectors. The units have been developed to provide preparation for employment.

This course is suitable for school leavers with a keen interest in the travel and tourism industry.

Successful students tend to be:

  • self-confident, with a pleasant, cheerful and outgoing nature
  • have excellent communication skills
  • be in good health, with energy and stamina
  • have a genuine interest in working with a range of people in a service role.

Course content

This programme of study has been designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career within the travel and tourism industry.  The programme of study includes a number of qualifications including:

  • BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Travel and Tourism
  • NCFE Level 2 Cabin Crew

Students will also have the opportunity to complete a personal presentation unit and various enrichment activities designed to enhance their time at West Lancashire College and further develop their knowledge and understanding of the aviation and cabin crew industry.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade D or above and/or related level 1 qualification.


A combination of internal and external assessed assignments are conducted throughout the duration of the course.

Future opportunities

If you achieve a merit you will be able to progress onto the Travel and Tourism Level 3 Diploma Edexcel.

Potential careers include: Travel Consultant, Tour Operator, Overseas Representatives, Cabin Crew, Tourist Information Assistant, Hotel Management or Event Manager.
