Course description

Why choose music? AS and A2 music provides students with skills they can use in all walks of life. It develops skills in analysis, creative as well as critical thinking and essay writing skills. It also allows students to develop their confidence and communication through performance and composition. The AS/A2 music specification allows students to choose a pathway through the course that best suits their needs, whether it be as a solo performer or computer sequencing technician, as a song writer or orchestral composer. However students choose to pursue their interest in music, an AS/A2 in the subject can provide a good foundation for work within the music industry, further academic study or simple enjoyment. It should provide a lifelong interest and understanding of music as a listener, composer or performer at any level.

Five GCSEs grade A-C grade B in GCSE Music

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in Music related courses or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Music such as a Music Composer, Musician, Sound Technician or you may wish to use your music ability for recreational purposes. The course is designed to provide you with access to a range of music related employment and will also develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of other industries are looking for.
