Performing Arts - Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts UAL at Wakefield College
This course is designed to give you a real flavour of how work in the performing arts evolves from the initial idea to the final performance! Over the course you will be introduced to a range of activities essential to the development and delivery of a performance such as drama, dance and musical theatre, the process of rehearsal, production and delivery. It will provide you with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training for a range of performing arts subjects, including acting, singing, dancing and musical theatre.
You will participate in a series of creative and exciting projects that will help you to develop performance skills in singing, dancing and acting. Throughout the practical sessions you will learn how to develop characterisations through the use of movement and vocal skills. You will explore different performance mediums, such as musical theatre and devised work. You will work actively as part of a group and will be encouraged to give and take ideas in the creation of the productions. Maths and English are key elements of any full-time programme of study in College. If you do not already have a GCSE at grade A*-C (or new grade 9-4) in these subjects, you will need to attend sessions allocated on your timetable. They will also help you in the future. Most employers are looking for ability in these areas and the majority of university courses require you to have Maths and English GCSEs at A*-C (or new grade 9-4).
