Intermediate Apprenticeship 

  • Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Pharmacy Services
  • Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Cert in Pharmaceutical Science
  • Functional skills in Maths, English and ICT

Length of the course - 18 months approximately

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist with the provision of a pharmacy service to meet individuals' need
  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of teams.

You also choose four optional units from a range, including:

  • Assemble prescribed items
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation, materials and other items for manufacture and assembly of medicinal products
  • Maintain pharmaceutical stock

Who is it for?

Level 2 will suit you if you have just started your trainee post as a pharmacy assistant and are developing your skills to take on basic duties in the pharmacy setting.

To gain an NVQ, you need to show you've got a particular set of skills. You usually work with your training provider to review your current skills and find the best way to gain new ones - perhaps by trying new things at work, or by studying.

Entry requirements

These qualifications are for anyone interested in a career as a pharmacy assistant or technician. You don't need any previous experience to start the Level 2 qualification.

Assessment

You'll be assessed in your workplace, so you need to have a job or trainee post in a pharmacy setting.

Fully funded

Aged 19-23
Fully funded for employers with less than 1000 employees. For employers with 1000+ employees, please contact us for further details.

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship.

Future opportunities

The Level 2 qualification is part of an approved training scheme that allows you to work as a pharmacy assistant.
