IB Chemistry *FEES PAYABLE* at Hurstpierpoint College

Course description

All those taking Biology, Chemistry or Physics must complete a Group 4 project. Students work in teams, over a total of 10 hours, to investigate a topic of their choosing. At the end of the project all the teams come together to present their results to the other IB students. IB Chemistry syllabus

Standard Level students study the core, which is made up of 11 topics (Quantitative Chemistry, Atomic Structure, Periodicity, Bonding, Energetics, Kinetics, Equilibrium, Acids and Bases, Oxidation and Reduction, Organic Chemistry and Measurement and data processing), and two Options. The Options will be selected from the following list and may vary from year to year: Human Biochemistry, Chemistry in Industry and Technology, Medicines and Drugs, Environmental Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Further Organic Chemistry and Modern Analytical Chemistry. The Higher Level course extends the material introduced in the core, taking, for example, a more quantitative approach to problem-solving.
