Biology GCSE at Bradford College

Course description

Your exciting scientific course consists of three Biology Units which cover biological processes in humans and plants, human impact on the environment and the importance of micro-organisms. These are underpinned by knowledge and understanding of `how science works`and the principles of investigation. Examinations are in May/June only.

Course content

Your course will be taught over one year and includes three Theory Units and a Practical Coursework Unit.

Entry requirements

If you want to be a full-time GCSE student taking more than one science subject, a minimum of Grade DD in GCSE Core + Additional Science is required plus English and Mathematics at grade D or above. You will be expected to re-sit your GCSE Mathematics and English alongside your science subjects and need to be accepted to do the higher paper in these subjects before you enrol on the science GCSEs.
For part-time students taking GCSE Biology only, Grade DD in Core + Additional Science is required along with grades Cs or above in GCSE English and Mathematics.
Mature students are welcome to apply but you will need to have GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade C or above or Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy and evidence of recent academic study at a suitable level.
 

Assessment

Each Unit is assessed by an external written exam.
Examinations are in May/June only.
Practical coursework is Centre Assessed.
