Film Studies A Level at Bridgwater College

Course description

Films are a popular art form and an international industry. AS and A Level Film Studies uses a combination of analysis, research, theory and creative work to study examples from British, American and World Cinema, examining their production, form and reception, and relating these to cultural, social and political contexts. It would be of interest to anyone who enjoys watching and discussing films and is keen to learn more.

Course content

Units include:

  • Exploring Film Form
  • Producers and Audiences
  • British and American Films
  • Individual Research
  • Scriptwriting and Film-Making
  • Film Experience, Issues and Debates

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs in the A* – C range, including Maths and English at grade C or above.

You should enjoy watching and discussing films.

There are no entry requirements for adult students.

Future opportunities

You will be able to pursue higher education opportunities in media across a range of specialisms at top-flight universities or remain in the region to study the FdA Media Production at Bridgwater College.
